I’ve been doing some soul searching regarding how I’m doing some of my sessions. On the way to work this morning I was thinking about a man whose wife I was seeing that day. She comes almost every week despite the fact that he stopped coming months ago. I was thinking about asking him to consider coming back for at least three sessions to give therapy another try.
I told this to his wife and she was pretty sure he would not be open to returning. I had kind of thought that there was a connection with him somewhere at some point, and in the back of my mind have hoped that he might some day come back. I told her how I haven’t been doing this for very long and how they were one of my first couples. She said he had sensed that I was inexperienced and that’s not going to work for him.
For some reason that just made me sad along with a few other things that have happened here and there. The supervisor at the new place has been working to get me credentialed with Medicaid. It takes the longest to get credentialed with, but in our state at least, it reimburses considerably more than any of the private insurance companies do. She says referrals almost never stop then.
